Hello, world!
Yes, if you’re a front-end coder like myself, you’ll get that reference. When I started out my coding journey, those were the first two words I coded onto a website. It was very exciting to see my HTML and CSS come to life on a website, and I have been in love with coding ever since. Of course, there is more to me than just coding, so here are four fun things that you should know about me.
- I am a gamer.I am a huge nerd and love to play video games! I love playing simulation games, including The Sims, Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing. This obsession with video games started with Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Genesis when I was a kid, and I ended up spending hours of my childhood playing Pokémon games and the Professor Layton series. I even started playing games online on Twitch which has been a fun way to meet new people who also love playing video games
- I have a double major in Global Studies.Even though journalism was my main major, I really enjoyed the Global Studies curriculum at UNC, and it enabled me to take time to study abroad and still have those credits count towards my degree! During the summer after my first year, I traveled across the world to Singapore, Vietnam and Thailand for eight weeks. It was my first time in Southeast Asia, and I had an amazing experience. I loved studying abroad so much that I decided to study abroad for an entire six months in China in 2017 as a Weir Fellow. But, I still stick true to my journalism roots and (mostly) leave out that Oxford Comma 😉.
- Growing up, I wanted to be a novelist.
I still harbor this dream of being published one day, so this is still in reach! I have always loved to write, and my favorite class in undergrad was a creative writing class that cemented my love of writing and introduced me to a bunch of other people who were passionate storytellers. I’ve had a short story published online by the college lit club I was a part of, but I still want to be properly published one day and see my name on the front of a hardcover in the window (or probably just on Amazon.com) of a bookstore. - I love to cook.
I am not exactly sure where my love of cooking stemmed from, but I find cooking to be extremely fun. I think my favorite part about cooking is getting to share new recipes with others. When I was in undergraduate, I liked having friends come over so that we could all share a meal together. As a vegetarian, I enjoy introducing people to delicious plant-based meals that are simple, easy and delicious!
I hope these four facts help you to better understand who I am! If you would like to contact me to learn more about what I do, please reach out!
